The rise of Russian national culture in the early 20th century was reflected in Serov’s work through a series of portraits of leading figures of the art. One of them is the portrait of Alexander Glazunov (1865−1936) — a composer, conductor, professor and director of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, and the author of the famous ballet "Raymonda".
